About Me & How I can Help

Hi, my name is Debbie Jones.

I’m a registered and qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with around 20 years experience, including working with both couples and individuals in private practice in Melbourne.

I now live in a more remote location in beautiful East Gippsland with my husband of 38 years and thankfully can continue with supporting people with my professional skills via telehealth and Zoom. I also have consulting rooms at Mind & Body, Marlo.

I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, motivation and self-esteem and confidence.

Family photo at my son’s wedding a few years back. Some have left us and we have some newbies. But, despite the losses, the photo still makes me smile.

I predominately use Solution Focused Therapy in conjunction with Narrative Therapy as a counsellor as it has been reliable in creating positive outcomes for clients.

However, if you are seeking deeper healing and inner change, I also draw upon other evidence based approaches which I have been trained in such as Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I am also a certified trauma therapist, experienced and trained in trauma recovery counselling, grief and loss counselling and couple counselling.

I work from a body-mind medicine perspective, incorporating where needed, healing for the somatic impact of challenging emotional experiences, loss or trauma. During our time together, I will respectfully and collaboratively support you at your pace towards the positive changes you want to experience in yourself, your life or relationship.

People’s mental health and well being is very important to me. Personally, I think your mental health is the most important asset you have. Life can be good but life can also be tough at times and knowing how to cope, stay well and manage the challenges is paramount to living your best life.

Whether you are working towards personal growth and insight, deep inner healing or symptom relief and improved function, I will aim to create an open and safe environment where your thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.

Feel free to text, call or email me with any questions you might have.
